Yobe:NPC brief journalist on plan activities for 2023 Census.

National Population Commission,(NPC) yobe state Office has on Wednesday briefed Journalist  towards its preparation activities undertaken for the conduct of the population and housing census in the state.

Briefing journalist at the NUJ conference hall in damaturu,the federal Commissioner,National Population Commission in charge of Yobe State,Alhaji Mai Aliyu Mohammed said,initially the census exercise was scheduled for march 29 to April 2nd,2023 which was officially postponed  by the government to the period of 3rd May to 7th May,2023.

The NPC Federal Commissioner stated that,NPC yobe state office has so far undertaken a lot of preparation activities in respect of the 2023 Census.



He revealed that,some of the undertaken census activities in the state are;Completed Demarcation of 17 Local government areas of Yobe State,first and second pretest exercise,Trial Census,Identification of special population and complete online recruitment of all categories of the 2023 census functionaries in the state.

Mai Aliyu further revealed that,Others includes;Trained Data Quality Managers,Trained Local government facilitators,Trained Training Centre management Administration, Engagement of all the stakeholders and Advocacy to Traditional and Religious leaders in the State respectively.

He enumerated some of the challenges facing the 2023 population and housing census to includes; Funding,Procurement of Tablets for the Enumerators,Training for Undertaking field work, and Provision of Timetable for the 2023 Census exercise among others.

The Yobe NPC federal Commissioner concluded that, despite the challenges,they insist that the result of the census which was initially planned to take place from 3rd may to 7 may,2023 be made public before the transition to the new administration on 29th may,2023.

He Commended all the partners and media organisations in the state for contributing their quota in saying the 2023 census exercise take place successful.
