Non-kinetic approaches best in defeating Insurgency-CITAD

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) said,the contribution in the book published by the centre with it title" Community perceptions of Dialogue and Reconciliation in Northern Nigeria", provide pathways to further the conversation of a non-kinetic approach in restoring lasting peace in Northern Nigeria.
The Executive Director CITAD,Yunusa Zakar Ya'u made this known Wednesday while briefing newsmen in damaturu on their research conducted in the last two years.
Ya'u said,since 2012 they have been engaged in trying to understand the Boko Haram crises and proper solution to it and over the period,CITAD as foundation Summit different groups dealings with different aspects of the crises and this is the latest in the series publication they have done.
He said,this particular publication is focus around an issue on how people in the long- run restore peace in an area that are affected by Boko Haram.
"Our mission is to build a democratic self reliant society and as a foundation,peace building is one of the major plan of our work.
The CITAD Director further revealed that,the most effective way to restore peace is combine military action along with non-kinetic method with involve careful engagement with a consultation dialogue.
"What we have done in the last two years or so, is to engage critical stakeholders, religious leaders, military officers, government officials, Civil society, youths and women to see how do we quickly restore peace not just about winning the battle but also establishing peace on the ground.
"The book just CITAD published has seven substances chapters,three of them are results of the consultations in Adamawa,Yobe and Borno,one chapter focuses on specific experience of non-kinetic response to boko Haram in kano,while the two chapters focus on critical stakeholders on which peace will raise",said the executive Director CITAD.
He stated that,their recommendation required wider consultations not just within government but different stakeholders, youths groups,women and non state actors to understand and develop a forum work that will be able to respond all the critical questions being raise.
