The Yobe State Government has formalized a 20-year concession agreement with Truck Transit Parks Limited (TTD) for the operation and management of the Potiskum trailer park, marking a significant milestone in the state's infrastructure development strategy.

The agreement, signed on Friday, represents the state government's commitment to fostering sustainable infrastructure through private sector partnerships, according to Dr. Aliyu Isah Chikaji, Director-General of the Yobe State Agency for Public-Private Partnership and Investment Promotion (YAPPPIP).

"The Potiskum trailer park is a critical logistics infrastructure that would improve the movement of goods, enhance road safety, reduce indiscriminate parking of heavy-duty vehicles, facilitate trade, and stimulate economic activity within Potiskum and beyond," Dr. Chikaji stated.
He emphasized that under Governor Mai Mala Buni's administration, the state has created an enabling environment to attract private sector participation in developing and managing strategic public assets.

"As a major commercial hub in Northern Nigeria, Potiskum deserves a modern trailer transit facility that meets international standards and supports efficient transportation," Dr. Chikaji added.

The YAPPPIP Director-General noted that the partnership would bring significant private sector investment, professional facility management, improved operational efficiency, job creation, and increased economic opportunities for residents.

Obinna Nwaogu, Chief Operations Officer of Truck Transit Parks Limited, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, describing the Potiskum facility as "the best we have seen throughout the country."

"Our intention is to maximize investment by deploying technology and modern services to ensure that the aims of the government and resources channeled toward that development will ensure profitability," Nwaogu said.

He thanked the Yobe State Government and YAPPPIP, assuring that the partnership would lead to "bigger things and bigger togetherness."

Yobe State Commissioner of Commerce, Industry, Tourism, and Minerals, Hon. Kaigama Umar, commended Governor Buni for his vision in establishing the large-scale initiative while urging the concessionaire to strictly adhere to contractual terms.

"Presently, post-campaigns and votes, legal counsel awaits. We aim to avoid disputes where your entity and Yobe State clash over alterations.Kindly respect the contract's stipulations,"said the Commerce Commissioner.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by representatives from the Ministry of Justice, legal counsel, YAPPPIP, Yobe Investment Company Limited, and Truck Transit Parks Limited.
