Police Rescue Kidnapped Toddler, Arrest Suspect in Yobe Operations

On July 31, 2025, a 2-year-old toddler, Abdulkareem Mohammed,was kidnapped in Potiskum,and his father, Mohammed Ishayaku, received a ransom demand of N2 million. In a statement on Thursday,SP Dungus Abdulkarim, Police Public Relations Officer for the Nigeria Police Force,Yobe State Command,said swift police action led to the rescue of the child and the arrest of one suspect, Abdullahi Aliyu, aged 24,from Kakuri, Kaduna State. The statement added that,the suspect was traced and apprehended in Kaduna State after investigation revealed his involvement in similar incidents in other states. Police arrest man for assaulting female health worker in Yobe

By Yusuf A Yusuf,Damaturu  The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Usman Ahmed, for physically assaulting a female health worker at the Specialist Hospital in Damaturu. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the incident occurred after a disagreement over the provision of medical attention, during which the suspect reportedly attacked the female health worker with a stick. Responding swiftly to a distress call from hospital security, officers from the ‘C’ Division of the Police Command mobilised to the scene and apprehended the suspect. He is currently facing prosecution in court. Condemning the assault,the Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, described the act as unacceptable and warned the public against resorting to violence. Gov.Buni Convenes Security Council, Approves Expanded Joint Operation Haba Maza

The meeting brought together heads of all security formations operating within the state. Briefing journalists afterward, Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd.), the Governor's Special Adviser on Security Matters, outlined the key outcomes. He stated the council reviewed the current security situation, discussing numerous emergent and prevalent security challenges. "Security agencies provided detailed briefings.
