By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has charged the Projects monitoring committee to intensify monitoring and evaluation of all projects to ensure timely and quality execution of government projects.  He gave the directive on Monday in Damaturu while speaking to government officials.  "This is to ensure that all projects comply with contractual specifications, stand the test of time, and are beneficial to our people" he said.  The Governor also directed site Engineers attached to projects not to compromise contractual specifications, and report sub standard work on the peojects.  "We must have value for money expended on all the projects being executed by the state government.  "This is in line with the policy of accountability being promoted by this administration" Buni said.  The Governor warned in strong terms that  government would not tolerate unnecessary delay or sub standard work on any of its projects....

In a press statement on Tuesday by the KACRAN national president,Khalil Mohammed Bello said,the association fears is that if the program continues to be managed manipulatively,it will ultimately fail. Mai  Mala Buni over the Mafa attack and flood in some parts of the state. The chairman commended Gov. Buni for giving every citizen of the state a sense of belonging irrespective of political differences. “I must appreciate you for giving everyone a sense of belonging and fulfillment, despite our political differences” he said. Amb.Damagum said PDP shares the pain and trauma suffered by the people over the senseless killing of innocent people, and the hardships caused by the floods. Similarly, former Senate President, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, paid a sympathy visit to the governor and prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims of the Mafa attack and the floods. He prayed to Allah to grant the departed souls Aljannatul Firdaus, and to console their families.

Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu  The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by the National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, were today in Damaturu to commiserate with the government and people of Yobe state over the unfortunate attack on Mafa village by Boko Haram insurgents. by Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu  The National Directorate of Employment (NDE)Yobe state office has on Wednesday commenced the orientation and training exercise for 20 unemployed youth under Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (B-NOAS) in Yobe state. The Director  General of the NDE, Mallam Abubakar Fikpo,  said the exercise under the Vocational Skills Development (VSD) Department was meant to enable the Youth to be labour employers and self-reliant. Represented by the Acting state Coordinator NDE Yobe state, Hajiya Binta Aliyu, Fikpo stated that the youth would be trained on GSM repairs and  fashion design (tailoring skills) respectively. The executive director,NEYIF,Dauda Muhammad Gombe,made this known Wednesday at the 3-day inception training for its project staff on strengthening the resilience and reintegration of children formally associated with Non-State Armed Groups(NSAGS)and Other Vulnerable Children (OVC)in the state. By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu An inferno destroyed not fewer than 30 shops at a popular Abasha Market in Damaturu,Yobe State capital in an early morning on Tuesday. In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO),Yobe State Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim and made available to newsmen in damaturu. The statement revealed that, the incident happened around 0623 hours while, a distress call was received that a fire inferno had engulfed some shops at Abasha Ward,Damaturu. The statement further said that, action was quickly mobilized where the fire was finally controlled. He noted that"Over 30 shops were completely burnt,no life was lost nor injury sustained. The course of the inferno has not been ascertained at the time of writing this report.
