Road Construction has been on the priority list of my administration -Buni

By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has said, road construction has been on the priority list of his administration in the state. Buni made the statement on Wednesday at the official flagging-off of the reconstruction of 34km Danchuwa-Jajere  road Project in Jajere Community of  fune local government area of the state. He said,the construction of the road when completed would unveil and harness the rich agriculture, livestock and other potential that abound the area as well as improve socio- economic live in the communities. "Very reputable Company QUMECS Nig limited was carefully selected for the award the Construction of the 34km Jajere-Danchuwa road project. "This project was awarded at the cost of N5,032,732,211.02 and is expected to be completed within 18 months," Buni said. Group Appoints Buni Aide as National Media Director

By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu  Nigeria's renowed social movement group Team New Nigeria (TNN) has approved the appointment of Ibrahim Baba Saleh as National Director of Media Engagement and Strategic Communications. The appointment was contained in a statement signed by the TNN'S President, Modibbo Yakubun Farakwai. Saleh has specialism in journalism and public relations having obtained B. A. (Hons) in Mass Communication degree from the prestigious University of Maiduguri.  He garnered significant experience while working with Daily Trust newspaper with several stories published to his credit.  He was also a reporter for The Scope Newspaper, and a lecturer of journalism at the Federal Polytechnic Damaturu, Yobe State.  In addition to these, he has experience working with a telecommunications giant, Airtel Networks Limited. Yobe:Re-train ad-hoc staff on BVAS, Observers tell INEC

By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu    A Coalition of Accreditation Observers Group for the 2023 general elections in Yobe state Tuesday said there was need for the Independent Electoral commission (INEC) to retrain its ad-hoc staff on the use of Bimodal Verification Accreditation System (BVAS) machines in the state. The secretary of the observers’ team, Adam Baba Kowa, said this Tuesday in Damaturu while briefing journalists on their recommendations on the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections in Yobe state.  He stated that the peaceful conduct of the presidential and National Assembly elections exercise in Yobe state may not be unconnected to the intensive voter education and the engagement of youth in governance to cub electoral violence in the state. Yobe Government Lifts Ban On Riding Motorbike in Zone A

By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu  Governor Mai Mala Buni has lifted the ban on the riding of motorbike in Yobe Zone A This was disclosed by the Brigadier General, (RTD), Dahiru Abdulsalam, Special Adviser on Security Affairs to the Executive Governor. Dahiru said, "The ban on the riding of motorbike is hereby lifted with effect from 6th March 2023 in the 7 Local Government Areas of Zone A, namely: Bursari, Damaturu, Geidam, Gujba, Gulani, Tarmuwa and Yunusari".     According to him, The ban is lifted with the following conditions: Motorbikes are to operate between 6am and 6pm daily.MMotorbikesare not to be used for commercial purposes ‘Achaba’. Yobe Govt. Deploys 2,670 staff to Combat Climate Change

By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu  Governor Mai Mala Buni,  has approved the secondment and deployment of 2670 staff to the Ministry of Environment to serve as Coordinators and Supervisors. The staff drawn from the 17 local governments councils are to serve in the newly established Climate Change Adaptation Project. According to the commissioner for Environment, Alh. Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa  said 15 coordinators and supervisors are to serve in each of  the 178 wards of  the state. The Climate Change Adaptation Project would be executing various activities to check the challenges of climate change. He explained that the massive deployment of staff to the project was to effectively check the menace of the climate change in the state. "We are determined to confront the menace to boost agriculture, ensure food safety and security" he said. Karasuwa said social organizations would be encouraged to get involved and take ownership of the project.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote Baba Goni Bade expressed satisfaction on the conduct of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. He commended the electorates for peacefully conducting themselves in an orderly manner and charged them to maintain the tradition. The chairman further urged politicians and political parties, opinion leaders, traditional rulers and parents to caution their wards and youth to shun violence and thuggery during and after the elections.

Yobe Approves N500m Agric. Loan To 4,000 Teachers

By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu   Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has Thursday approved N500 million Agricultural loan to 4,000 teachers across the State. The loan which is to be distributed in two phases is to equip the teachers to prepare and participate in the 2023 cropping season effectively. Each of the 4,000 teachers is to receive the sum of  N120,000 to engage in agricultural production. Governor Buni advised the beneficiaries to use the support judiciously for the intended purpose. The facility which is to be granted by the Yobe Microfinance Bank, is to be redeemed within 24 months through the Yobe State Ministry of Finance and, the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. The Exco members which comprise the Chairman, Alh. Yusuf Isa, the Secretary, Alhaji Hamisu Ado Nguru, and Treasurer Murja Tijjani were inaugurated recently by the National body of the Alumni.
