Yobe lawmaker empowers 80 youths on skills acquisition

A member of the House of Representatives representing Gujba,Gulani, Damaturu and Tarmuwa federal constituency, Hon. Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Monday, sponsored the training of 80 youth on skills acquisition programme in Yobe state.


The training was in collaboration with Centre for Management Development (CMD), a federal government  agency. It has trained the youth on barbing and hairdressing respectively.

Speaking during the flagging-off of the training at the National Open University, Damaturu, Khadija Ibrahim stated that the gesture is part of the drive to complement the state government efforts towards reducing the number of unemployed youth and eradicate poverty in the society.

Represented by Ya Gana Alhaji Sheriff, Khadija was impressed  with the commitment of the youth to learn new skills towards improving their living standard.


“The beneficiaries of the training will be supported with stater pack at the end of the training in other to start on their own and become self-reliance,” he said.

She urged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the opportunity toward supporting their family and the society at large.

In his remarks, a facilitator from Centre for Management Development (CMD), Mr. Obetta Eden, said the training is a collaboration with Khadija, the member of House of Representatives.


He said,being a mother the lawmaker undertake the training in collaboration with the federal government in other to alleviate poverty among women and Youths in the Society.


"This project she is under going now is apted especially now that everybody is looking out for another multiple sources of income in their lives.

"This will be able to pull the youths out from the street to be able to become somebody instead of becoming nuisance in the state and their local government",said Aden.

Some of the trainees expressed appreciation for the Initiative and promised to use the skills to help themselves and their communities.
