Petrol Subsidy:Time for the rich to make sacrifices-Yobe NLC

Yobe State is not left behind as Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Wednesday joined  the nationwide  protest over the removal of petrol subsidy.

The protesters have converged on at the phase one secretariat to governor's Office where a letter was presented by the Yobe NLC Chairman to governor Mai Mala Buni for onward delivery to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

Yobe NLC Chairman,Muktar Tarbutu read NLC National President letter as read apart"there is nowhere in the world where government leave its
citizens totally to the vagaries of the market without some measure of control and protection.


"The federal government should therefore deal decisively with the 
criminal content of subsidy instead of exposing the ordinary citizens to avoidable pain and hardship.

"As a matter of urgent National Importance,it is imperative to fix
all our Refineries to be able to cater for the domestic fuel consumption. 

"Further Government should go after parties Associated with corruption such as over-invoicing under delivery 
of products,over estimation of National capacity,crude oil swap smuggling, and make them to account etc".

The NLC National President maintained that,"Poors have done enough there is nothing more to give.

"We need to support poor and vulnerable Nigerians through structured and comprehensive social protection,government support for education and health sectors instead of commercialising them.

"We want government to look at these our demands such as; Immediate Reversal of all Anti-poor policies of Government including the 
recent hike in petrol Price,school fees and VAT.

"Fix our local Refineries in Port Harcourt,Warri and Kaduna,release of 8 months withheld salaries of university lecturers and workers Immediate inauguration of the presidential committee and Sub-Committee as agreed in previous
communications.To put a stop to in human actions and policies of government respectively".
