National Youth Games Kicks Off in Yobe

National Youth Games (NYG) Zonal Elimination for the Northeast region has finally begun in Yobe State.

The event, which is being held at a prestigious venue, August 27th Stadium has attracted the attention of various stakeholders, including members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN). 

The Vice President of SWAN Northeast, Comrade Ahmed Kagana Amshi, is representing the SWAN President Mr. Isaiah Benjamin at the elimination series.

The zonal event received additional support from the Chairmen of Adamawa, Bauchi and the host state, as Chairman Michael Oshomah was also present to provide comprehensive coverage of the event.

Representing the State Governor, Mai Mala Buni,was the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, who shared the Governor's excitement regarding the tournament. The Governor emphasized the importance of providing a platform for young athletes from the region to showcase their talent and compete at a national level.

The participating states in the zonal competition include Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, and the host state, Yobe. The teams have been meticulously preparing for the championship and are eager to display their skills and determination.

Sports enthusiasts and spectators can look forward to an exciting and action-packed event, as the athletes showcase their worth in various sports disciplines. 

The National Youth Games serve as a launching pad for young athletes to gain experience and exposure, with the chance to represent their states and potentially earn a call-up to the national team.

The Zonal Vice President for the Northeast region will oversee the coverage of the event, ensuring that fans across the nation can enjoy the sounds and sights of the thrilling championship. 

The high level of participation and enthusiasm among the SWAN members is a testament to their commitment to promoting grassroots sports development in Nigeria.

As the National Youth Games Zonal Elimination unfolds in Yobe State, anticipation and excitement continue to grow. All eyes are on the talented young athletes from the participating states who will undoubtedly leave their mark on the event.

Yobe Gov't,NTBLCP, Partners celebrates 2025 World TB Day

By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu The Yobe State Government has installed seven new Truenat PCR-TB diagnosis machines to enhance the state’s ability to quickly and accurately diagnose TB cases.   The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mohammed Lawan Gana, made this known on Wednesday during the commemoration of the 2025 World Tuberculosis Day in collaboration with National tuberculosis and Leprosy Control programme (NTBCLP) and Development Partners took place in Damaturu,the state capital. Yobe Begins Survey on SGDP to Analyze Economic Capacity
