NUJ,SWAN Closes 2023 Media Games competition in Yobe

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in collaboration with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in Yobe state have closed up the week long 2023 media games in the state.

In his closing remarks, the Chairman NUJ Yobe Council, Comrade Rajab Mohammed said,the 2023 media games which was tagged"Media Games for Peace"the sporting event has not only showcased the games prowess of the participants, but it has also demonstrated the power of sports in bringing people together. 

He stated that,It has provided a platform for unity, friendship, and healthy competition.it has promoted physical and mental well-being, and it has empowered our members to strive for excellence.


"Today, as we bring this event to a close, let us take a moment to reflect on the values that sports embody - discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and respect. These values transcend the boundaries of individual organizations, and they serve as a beacon of hope in our increasingly interconnected areas of duties/work places.

"Your dedication, discipline, and hard work have been truly exceptional.You have inspired us with your incredible skills, determination, and sportsmanship.Each one of you has brought honour to your respective teams, organisation and indeed to our union, Nuj.

"I must also acknowledge the tireless efforts of the organising committee under the chairmanship of Comrade Ahmed Kagana Amshi, SWAN Vice President Northeast, whose commitment made this tournament a resounding success. 


"Further more, I want to recognise the security personnel who have worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all participants and attendees. Your presence and vigilance have allowed us to come together in a peaceful environment, fostering a sense of unity,

"As we bid farewell to the participants who have become our heroes over the past few days, let us remember the important role that sports play in our society. Let us continue to support and encourage ourselves, giving the opportunities to organise such an event anytime in the near future.


"I would like to conclude by expressing my heartfelt gratitude to every person who has contributed to the success of this sporting event especially, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni con,  the most Media friendly Governor in Nigeria. His Excellency support has made this event a truly unforgettable one".

The final competition in football game played between the Nigerian Police Team and House of Assembly Team,while  Tug of War game played between the Nigerian Army Team and Nigerian Police Team respectively.
