Plan Int'l,ECW,empowers 150 youth with start-up kits in Yobe

The youths were trained in barbing, hairdressing, welding, food processing, groundnut processing, shoe making, knitting, make up, bit making tailoring, carpentry and handset repairs. Flood,NRCS to take proactive measures in Yobe

By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu  The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) in Yobe State is planning to conduct an awareness campaign and advocacy to prevent potential flooding this rainy season.  Last year, the region experienced significant damage from floods, prompting the NRCS to take proactive measures this year.  The NRCS has identified various stakeholders, such as the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and state-owned media organizations, to collaborate on raising awareness about the dangers of flooding and the need to prevent it.  According to statistics from Yobe SEMA, over 31,000 households across 255 communities were affected by floods last year.  The NRCS plans to target traditional and religious leaders in communities, as well as areas that were severely affected last year, to emphasize the importance of clearing blocked drainages and avoiding living near waterways.  The goal is to minimize losses and mitigate the impact of potential ...

Buni travelled to Potiskum to joined thousands of sympathisers who waited for hours to honour the late elder statesman and pray for the repose of his soul. Late Alh. Gov.Buni Approves N667m Benefits to 475 LG Retirees.

This is contained in a statement by Buni’s Director-General, Press and Media Affairs, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed and made available to newsmen in Damaturu. According to the statement,Governor approved the sum of Six Hundred and Sixty Seven Million, forty five thousand, four hundred and forty one Naira, twenty two kobo (N667,045,441.22) for payment of the 475 local government pensioners. Yobe State was once known for its achievements in hockey and other indoor sports such as badminton,volleyball, and basketball among others.However, over time, the council has failed to maintain the same level of success, despite the state government’s significant investments in sports encouragement. There are several factors that may have contributed to this decline. Fitness is just one aspect of sports performance, and other factors such as psychological preparedness, supply of equipment, training opportunities, coaching expertise, nutritional status, support networks, and funding all play crucial roles. Yobe targets 80,000 households for subsidy palliatives

  Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu  Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state, Tuesday, inaugurated the committee for the commencement of distribution of palliatives to members of the society with a view to cushioning the bites of the fuel subsidy removal. Represented by his Deputy,Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana,Buni noted that the support will be in phases with the flag-off targeting over 80,000 households of over 400,000 people, including the vulnerable persons, civil servants, students, the elderly, and women. The governor assured that the distribution will cut across over 14,500 communities in the state with no segment of the vulnerable shortchanged in the exercise. He said the committee, consisting of refutable community stakeholders, religious leaders, and traditional leaders and CSOs, would immediately commence implementation across the state and citizens to give maximum cooperation and support to the committee to ensure its success.
