Yobe:NDE disburses N1.9m loans to Agric Scheme Beneficiaries

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE)Wednesday disbursed loan of N1.9 million to unemployed youths in agri-business across the 17 Local Government Areas of Yobe state.

The Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo who spoke during the loan disbursement in damaturu revealed  that,the beneficiaries were amongst the 1700 recruited and trained last year under its sustainable Agricultural Development Empowerment Scheme (SADES)of its Rural Employment Promotion Department (REP).

Represented by Yobe State NDE Acting Coordinator, Hajiya  Binta Aliyu,Abubakar Fikpo said,the beneficiaries of the scheme were supported to enhance their agriculture investment and boost economic development.

The Director General explained that the agency was determined through numerous interventions to reduce the unemployment rate in society by encouraging skills acquisition among the youths.

He added that the 19 beneficiaries in Yobe state under Sustainable Agricultural Development Empowerment Scheme (SADES)of Rural Employment Promotion Department (REP)were trained in agricultural enterprises and would be supported with N100,000 loan each to advance their business for economic growth.

He reminded the beneficiaries to see the gesture as a rare opportunity which should not be allowed to fail.

The DG charged them to justify the federal government's efforts by putting in their  best to succeed and repay the loan in due time so that other unemployed youth will benefit subsequently.

Also speaking at the event,the director rural employment promotion Department from the NDE headquarters, Mr.Eden Duke,while congratulating the beneficiaries, urged them to deploy the loan on their enterprises and not on other things.

Represented by Mr.Mohammed D. Gwaza from the NDE headquarters, Mr Duke urged the beneficiaries to effectively use the funds for the purpose it was obtained and pay back as at when due to enable other people also to benefit.
