Yobe,MCRP trains religious Youth leaders on peace,reconciliation

In an efforts to promoting sustainable peace, deepening communication and harmonious coexistence among the youths,Yobe State Ministry of religious affairs has on Wednesday organised a 3 day religious engagement with  religious Youths leaders across the 3 Senatorial Districts on the imperatives of peace and reconciliation.

The engagement which was supported by Yobe state Multi- Sectoral Crises Recovery Project (MCRP) took place at the National Open University in Damaturu.

Speaking at the event,the Chairman of the occasion,Alhaji Muhammad Sama ila Nguru,a former Commissioner of finance and education in the state said,the training is apt and timely in view of the vital position the teeming youths hold in the society.

Sama ila Nguru stated that,the theme of the training "Directing the  Energy, Idealism and Innovations of youths towards a peaceful and Egalitarian Society"is highly relevant and appropriate.


He commended the Ministry for religious affairs and Multi-Sectoral Crises Recovery Project (MCRP)for champion the noble cause.

On his remarks,the chairman, damaturu local government area,Bukar Adamu,said the Programme would not have come at better than now considering the fact that the state still in a healing and recovery period after a decade long insurgency that ravaged the state leading the deaths of hundreds and displacement of thousands of people.

"We must strive hard to entrench peace that will be sustainable at all times in our dear State which can only be achieved if we can deepen commucation among ourselves so that we can have a peaceful coexistence that will guarantee justice, equity, unity and progress ",said Bukar Adamu.

On his keynote paper on the topic"An overview on the role of homes in child upbringing and inculcating societal values, professor Muhammad Sani of University of Maiduguri said,a child spent the best of his early childhood with his parents and its during this early years that his character shape and moulded.

He revealed that if the child will grow up to a youth to be a menace to society then there must be something wrong with that upbringing from the parent.

According to the resource persons,"The way forward is to go back to the root to take up our own responsibilities and parents should be parents and be the first teachers and roles models of their children".
