Yobe:FMARD,Trains Animal Health Workers On Disease Reporting

Federal Ministry of Agriculture and rural development in collaboration with  world bank Monday began a two-day training of private and public Animal Health workers across the 17 local government areas of Yobe  state on Disease reporting and use of National Animal Disease Information Service(NADIS).

The training which organised through the Department of veterinary and pest control services of federal ministry of agriculture(FMARD) took place in damaturu,Yobe state capital.

Speaking at the training,the director veterinary services,yobe state Ministry of Agriculture,Dr.Yusuf Iliyasu said,the training was organised by the federal ministry of agriculture through the sponsorship of regional disease surveillance system enhancement (REDISSE),a world bank project meant for the enhancement of surveillance system across some countries in africa and  Nigeria happen to benefit.

Dr.Iliyasu stated further that,the training aimed at bringing the state animals disease reporting from the analogue form into the digital form for effectiveness.

"The training is meant for all surveillance agents,area veterinary Officers,doctors and for the clearly of the training it was sub divided in to segment".


The director veterinary services called on the veterinary area Officers,private veterinarian doctors to adopt the digital way of doing things faster on real time as the country is confronting emergence and re- emergence animal diseases.

On his remarks, Federal epidemiology Officer,Yobe state federal ministry of agriculture,Dr. Abdulkarim Damagum Ya'u revealed that,the training is on disease transmission using mobile applications called "National Animals Disease Information System (NADIS).

"It is a transition from paper based reports to electronic based animals disease reporting for effectiveness and efficiency".

He appreciated the efforts of the veterinarian for taking effort in what they have been doing to the system which has been tedious reporting of paper based as it taking a lot of time. 

He charged the training beneficiaries to have peace of work and believe in what they have been doing as it was recognised by the higher authority.
