ProjectTrust trains Yobe MDAs on data management,others

A nongovernmental organisation, Project Trust,Tuesday trained staff of Yobe Ministries,Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on Data Management, Monitoring and Evaluation and Social Accountability Project Trust, as an initiative of Connected Development , a project that seeks to rebuild trust between government and citizens.
Country director, Mu’azu Modu, said over the years, the organization learnt that government is doing a lot of things and citizens also demand a lot of accountability from the government, but that there is disconnections between the government and the citizens.
He stated that the citizen don’t understand what the government is doing and government don’t adequately communicate to the citizens.
“So for us to have the sustainable development as a country, we need to rebuild the trust between citizens and the government through engaging the citizens to understand how the government is works and to see how government provides the platform for people to seek their demand and government take it as part of their budget and implement the social services that are in their communities.
“Today, we bring together 10 MDAs, including Ministry of Basic education,Higher Education, Health, House of Assembly, SUBEB, PHCB, Water Resources and RUWASA, for the training,” he added.
Abubakar Ibrahim, an Assistant Chief Planing Officer, Yobe state Primary Health Care Board, said as a participant, the training is timely as the knowledge acquired on monitoring and evaluation will enhance his capacity in a long way trying to meet up the contemporary demand regarding data and it also strengthen towards accountability.
“We have left behind in terms of reporting the activities for having processing and reprogramming our activities to have the desired results. For us to achieve that, we need to have the adequate knowledge of monitoring and evaluating the indicators of our programme towards seeing the results at the end of the day.”
Also a participant from Yobe state House of Assembly, Asheikh Musty who is director, Planning Research and Statistics said in the area of government, the training would assist government in the area of oversight functions as it is a way of monitoring and evaluating and informing citizens to ensure government projects and activities are in line with the need of the citizens.
