NBA Damaturu Branch Elects New Leadership
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Damaturu Branch, Yobe State has elected new officials to lead the association for the next two years.
The elections, held on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, were praised for being "peaceful, credible, free, fair, and transparent" by Barrister Usman Lukman Huhu, Chairman of the electoral committee.
In a decisive victory, Barrister Mohammed Ngumurumi emerged as the new Chairman, garnering 103 votes,while his opponents,Ahmad Khalil Esq from Potiskum L.G.A and Abdullahi Nikau Esq from the Ministry of Justice, secured 3 and 2 votes respectively.
In his acceptance speech,Barrister Ngumurumi expressed gratitude to the electorates for their overwhelming support throughout the electioneering campaigns. He emphasized the collective goal of developing the branch, stressing that there are no losers in the election.
Furthermore, the newly elected Chairman promised to run an all-inclusive administration, ensuring that every member of the association has a voice and a role to play in shaping the future of the branch.
Barrister Ngumurumi also commended the security agencies for their professionalism and dedication to ensuring a hitch-free election. He praised their efforts in maintaining peace and order throughout the electoral process.
Other officials elected to run the association together with the chairman are:Hassan Usman Zario - vice Chairman,Ahmed Idriss Goje- Secretary,Abdulmalik Isa - Asst. Secretary,Mohammed Dahir Amir - Financial Secretary,Abubakar Sadiq Usman- Social Secretary,Esther Martins - Treasurer,Musa Haruna Mohammed - Provost,Abdurrahman Muhammad Karage - Legal Adviser,Umar Yakubu Damagum- Publicity Secretary and Alkali Abare Shehu -Welfare Secretary
The newly elected executives are to serve for 2 years as contained in the NBA Bye-Law for the branches.
The new leadership is since sworn in by Barr. Ndahi, Notory Public.
