Buni to palliatives c'tee,mobilise resources for immediate sharing

By Yusuf A Yusuf,  Damaturu  Governor Mai Mala Buni  of Yobe state, said the state Committee on Palliatives would mobilise resources for immediate distribution and implementation to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal. This is contained in a statement by Buni’s Director-General, Press and Media Affairs, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed in Damaturu. According to the statement, Governor Buni, said the committee  would mobilise resources at the disposal of the state government to support the people. "The Committee has commenced work and working out plans and strategies to cover every sector of the society especially those in need. Joda disclosed this when she paid unscheduled visit to the site of the project in Fika, the headquarters of Fika local government area. "This is one of the projects approved to us by our amiable Governor, Mai Mala Buni, that is the new Government Lodge' 'The need became imperative for the fact that; whenever we receive any special guests in the local government, we have to solicit for individual houses to accommodate such guests.  This reason forced us to seek approval to build  this project" she said. Gov.Buni Inaugurates sales of fertiliser at subsidise rate

Buni, who reduced the price of each bag of the fertiliser to N13,000, said it would assist farmers in the state to boost outputs for the 2023 farming season. Launching the fertiliser sales at the event centre of the government house Damaturu, the governor called on farmers to take advantage of the slashed rate to increase their agricultural yield in the state. “On this note, I have directed that for the 2023 farming season, a bag of NPK 20- 10-10 fertiliser to be sold at N13,000 per bag. Yobe Gov't Distributes Palliatives to Disabled Persons.

By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu  In line with Governor Mai Mala Buni's pledge to provide palliatives to the people of Yobe state to cushion the hardships created by the subsidy removal, 500 Persons Living with Disabilities have been provided with food items. Governor Buni directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to support the vulnerable persons with the food items. The beneficiaries were provided with rice, maize, beans, spaghetti, salt and food seasoning cubes among others. Dr. Mohammed Goje, Executive Secretary SEMA, said the distribution of the palliatives will be in phases starting with the needy and most vulnerable group. "His Excellency Gov. Buni directed that we start the distribution with the most needy group and gradually reach out to other groups" Dr. Goje said. Gov. George Akume to discuss areas of cooperation and intervention by the federal government.  Governor Buni highlighted the state of federal projects in the state and the urgent need for federal intervention. The Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo who spoke during the loan disbursement in damaturu revealed  that,the beneficiaries were amongst the 1700 recruited and trained last year under its sustainable Agricultural Development Empowerment Scheme (SADES)of its Rural Employment Promotion Department (REP).
