A total of 5,029 out of 32,140 staff members in the Yobe State Government workforce have failed to submit their Bio Data forms nine months after the verification exercise in the state.

The Permanent Secretary of the Yobe State Public Service and Chairman of the Committee for the Generation of the Nominal Roll of Yobe State Civil Servants, Dr. Bukar Kilo, disclosed this on Wednesday while presenting the verification report to the State Head of Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa.

He stated that 27,111 out of the 32,140 total workforce participated in the exercise, while 5,029 staff members failed to submit their Bio Data forms, raising concerns about the authenticity of the staff records.

To address this issue, the committee has proposed the establishment of a Verification Committee.

According to Dr. Kilo, "The Verification Committee will require all staff who failed to submit their forms to present their original credentials, employment records, and six-month bank statements. Any staff member who fails to comply with this directive will have their salary put on hold. This measure will ensure the accuracy of our records and verify the authenticity of our staff."

While receiving the report in his office, the Yobe State Head of Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa, commended the committee for the excellent work done.

He acknowledged that the success of the exercise was achieved through the collective effort and dedication of the committee members. However, he noted that the work is not yet complete, as there are grey areas that need to be addressed.

"I have been proactive in addressing some of these grey areas, as the Chairman of the Committee has briefed me on the ongoing efforts and outcomes.

" I met with His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, and discussed the matter with him. I presented a proposal for a group of individuals to handle cases involving those who did not comply," said the Head of Service.
