The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has applauded Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State for swiftly and fairly distributing relief materials to pastoralists in the state, saying he has demonstrated empathy and outstanding leadership.

The association has on Wednesday issued a press release, signed by its national leader, Khalil Mohammed Bello, highlighting the need for other northern governors and the federal government to emulate Governor Buni’s example by providing assistance to pastoralists across the country.

According to the statement, KACRAN has strongly emphasized the role that “justice and fairness play in fostering peace, unity, and overall development within society, irrespective of ethnic background, occupation, religion, or political affiliation.”

The association lauded Governor Buni’s distinct approach to governance and his exceptional dedication towards the well-being of the people of his state.

KACRAN had, in the statement, pointed out two specific instances that highlight Governor Buni’s unwavering commitment to the pastoralist community.

“Firstly, the governor’s directive to the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, to promptly distribute relief materials to pastoralists within the state.Through this responsive action, essential provisions were efficiently delivered directly to the recipient’s doorsteps.”

“Moreover, Governor Buni’s recent inaugural address to the local government chairmen in the state further emphasized the paramount significance of ensuring peaceful coexistence between herders and farmers,” said Mr Bello.

"The governor firmly tasked the chairmen with establishing Farmers/Herders peace-making committees in their respective areas, aimed at effectively resolving conflicts arising from irresponsible cattle rearing and the destruction of farmers’ crops.

Additionally, Governor Buni sternly warned against encroachments on grazing reserves and the obstruction of cattle routes, asserting the essential need for collaboration and mutual respect between both parties.

The statement said Governor Buni’s proactive measures have been a significant strides towards peace and development within the state, even as we express profound gratitude for the safeguarding and improvement of their people’s livelihood.”

The association fervently calls upon all northern governors and the federal government to emulate Governor Buni’s remarkable leadership by providing support to pastoralists who often reside in marginalized and remote areas, excluded from the benefits of government policies and initiatives.

“KACRAN firmly believes that just and fair treatment of pastoralists will not only contribute to bolstering national security but will also serve as an impetus for overall national development. The association earnestly implores decision-makers to distribute palliative materials and extend similar support to all Nigerian citizens, fostering an environment where justice and fairness prevail.”
