38th National Qur'anic Competition end in Yobe

Bauchi, Kano emerged winners of the 38th National Qur'anic Recitation competition.Ibrahim Mohammed Nasir from Bauchi state and Zainab Aliyu Mohammed,from Kano state are the representative of their respective states have emerged overall winners of the 38th National Qur’anic Recitation competition held in Damaturu, Yobe State.

The winner from the male category, Ibrahim Mohammed Nasir was crowned as hero of the year by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar,and received five million(5,000,000) naira as well as a Toyota Corolla ,while Zainab Aliyu Mohammed of the female category from Kano state was also crowned as hero of the year by the Ya- Maira of Damaturu Emirate also received  five million (5,000,000) and a Honda Accord Car.

Announcing the results, the Director Center for Islamic Studies Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto,Professor Abubakar Yelwa,said the hero of the male category, Ibrahim  Mohammed Nasir from Bauchi state emerged winner with 82.7 points,while the overall winner of the female category, Zainab Aliyu Mohammed emerged winner with 85.4 points.

In his closing remarks,President  Ahmed Bola Tinubu congratulated Yobe State Government for providing an enable environment for the Quranic recitation competition especially at this trying period of the security challenges.

Represented by the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC),Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje,president Tinubu stated that one of the issues the people should consider is to increase the quality and quantity of the numbers of Islamiyya schools all across the country.

The president revealed that these are the basic on which Quranic recitation would be grow from strength to strength."We realized that those youth men and women who are able to embrace Islamic education and also embrace western education they tenth to be better intellectual in schools than those who embrace only western education.

"We believe by encourage the  establishing more Quranic schools we are encouraging our religion as well".

Earlier in his speech the Chief host and Governor of Yobe state,Mai Mala Buni said,Government and people of Yobe state are indeed honoured with the esteemed present of his Excellency president Ahmed Bola Tinubu,the National Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APAC),Gombe state Governor,Alhaji Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya,Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum,Emirs and Mais among other dignitaries present at the closing ceremony of the 38th National Quranic recitation competition taking place at the August 27th Stadium in Damaturu.

Governor Buni stated that,the state consider the hosting of the Quranic recitation competition in the state as a home coming event, stressed that, because the old kanem borno empire with its headquarters in Gazargamu in present day Yobe state was a renowned center for Quranic memorization and learning.

"The 38th Quranic recitation competition is an event brought home.For the passed 8th years we have had contestants, judges and officials activily engaged in the recitation competition of the holy Quran.

"In this competition there are no losers,it is a win win situation because the rewards that accompanied the perticipation in the competition",said Governor Buni.

He enjoined all to take advantage of the glorious moment of the Quranic recitation competition to pray for the peace,unity, stability and progress of the country saying they have no other the country than Nigeria.
