Yobe:ACOMIN Improves on Clients Visitation to Health Facilities

The Civil Society in Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) has revealed that,in 2023,they have Improved on Clients Visitation to healthcare facilities through service provider across the 8 implemented  local government areas of Yobe state.

ACOMIN Programme Officer in Yobe state Muktar Muhammad Shehu disclosed this during 10th media meeting on Tuesday in Damaturu Yobe State capital.

Shehu stated that,they have also facilitated the conducting of general sanitation at Zango and Sarkin Hausawa In Bade Local government area.

He further said,other successes achieved in 2023 by ACOMIN in the state are;resolved dispute between facility health workers and Ward Development Committees(WDC) in Damakusu of Damaturu LGA and positive results on pregnant women who are not attending Ante Natal Care which is detrimental to fight against Malaria on pregnancy in Fika local government area respectively.


The SPO however revealed that,to prevalent an increase in the incidence rate of Malaria, urgent action and collective efforts from the public is needed,hence the need for sleeping inside insecticide treated nets as is crucial and its provide a physical barrier against mosquitoes.

Mukhtar Shehu used the medium and urged Yobe citizens to prioritise their health by taking Swift and decisive actions to improve their environments and eliminate the breeding grounds responsible for malaria-carrying mosquitoes.

He also called the attention of government at all levels to increase the budgetary allocation for hospital infrastructure and equipment ,implement effective recruitment and retention strategies to attract and retain skilled healthcare professionals and prioritise the development of reliable electricity and water infrastructure in health facilities amongst others.

On his part,one of the partner from Centre for Child Care and Human Development said ,they have made tremendous achievements as par as Community accountability projects implemented in Potiskum local government area of Yobe state

A team from the Foundation mandated to carry out the payment set out in the early hours of Wednesday, 11th March 2026, visiting each of the 21 schools for the exercise.  The team first visited the Chana community and later proceeded to Godowoli and other villages, ending the exercise in Gadaka. Three volunteers in each of the schools were given the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira to cover their monthly stipends. Yobe L-PRES Project Hands Over Livestock Market to Geidam Community

By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu  The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), a World Bank-funded program, has commissioned and handed over a modern livestock market to the Geidam local government area of Yobe State.  The market, located at the Nigeria-Niger border, is expected to boost livestock trade between the two countries and create jobs. The market covers a 400m x 400m area, with features including perimeter fencing, gates, security outpost, veterinary clinic, administrative block, solar-powered boreholes, and drinking points. Other amenities include loading and off-loading ramps, toilets, and a livestock weighing scale. Project Coordinator Adama Hussaini Madaki said the market would strengthen livestock trade and improve revenue generation. Yobe APC Exco Receive National Party Chairman Ganduje
