Yobe Gov't ,Fhi360 Organises training to Improve Nutrition

Yobe state Primary healthcare Management Board in Collaboration with Family Health International(Fhi360)Alive and Thrive on Monday Organized a 3-day residential refresher training of trainers on maternal infant and young Child Nutrition (MIYCN)in Yobe state.

The 3-day residential refresher training took place at Olive petals hotel along Gujba road in Damaturu,Yobe state.

Declaring the training opened, Yobe state Nutrition Officer,Hadiza Maina Adam called on the beneficiaries of the training to go back to thier respective LGAs and cascade the training to the lower level.

Hadiza also urged them to listened attentively and ensure that what ever they have leant at the training should put them into practice.

"You should try to make clarifications where ever you don't understand so that you can get the right message and pass the right information at the lower level".

On his remarks,Yobe state team lead,FHI360 Alive and Thrive, Mr.Japheth Boss said, the refresher training is to equipped the   participants with the knowledge and skills base necessary to support and counsel pregnant women including pregnant adolescent girls,mothers of children under 2 years on key maternal, infant,Young children nutrition(MIYCN) practices in the state.

"The participants were health workers working with Yobe state Primary healthcare Management Board across some local government areas in Yobe state ".

Mr. Japheth  appreciated the efforts of the Yobe state government for the support towards the Programme in the state.

He appealed to the trainers that they should seize this as an opportunity to improve their skills and capacity in delivering services their respective LGAs.

He called of people of the state to support pregnant,and breastfeeding women and encourage them towards exclusive breastfeeding for their children to have better health status.
