Group Educates Yobe Stakeholders on Small Arms Management
The workshop which had the theme:” Stakeholders engagement in the design of standard operation procedures towards efficient weapons and ammunition management and control,” drew key participants from security, civil society, academia and community groups to foster collaboration for community safety and resilience.
The program officer, CLEEN Foundation, Nnamdi Odo stated that the foundation’s goal is to bring stakeholders together to co-create a Standard Operating Protocol for the management of small arms and light weapons.
He said the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in Nigeria has posed major security challenges, both for formal security agencies and voluntary organisations like the Hunters Association, the Vigilante Tech Group of Nigeria and government security agencies.
“Due to incessant conflicts fueled by insurgency, banditry, and related crises, Nigeria has witnessed a significant influx of small arms and light weapons. This has contributed to numerous security breaches that we continue to combat.
“CLEEN Foundation is working to promote public safety and security, collaborating closely with Nigerian law enforcement to guarantee citizen safety.
