Yobe Gov't,NTBLCP, Partners celebrates 2025 World TB Day

The Yobe State Government has installed seven new Truenat PCR-TB diagnosis machines to enhance the state’s ability to quickly and accurately diagnose TB cases.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mohammed Lawan Gana, made this known on Wednesday during the commemoration of the 2025 World Tuberculosis Day in collaboration with National tuberculosis and Leprosy Control programme (NTBCLP) and Development Partners took place in Damaturu,the state capital.
Represented by the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr. Babagana Kundi Machina, Dr. Lawan said that in Yobe State, the impact of TB is mitigated through early diagnosis and treatment.
He stated that the state has achieved a sustained increase in TB case notification ,a critical step in ensuring early detection and treatment, among other measures.
"We are here to inform, to educate, and to inspire. Together, we will break the silence and ensure that every citizen has the opportunity to live a life free from the burden of tuberculosis."
"Today, as we gather for the 2025 World Tuberculosis Day, we stand united under the inspiring theme: 'Yes! We Can End TB.' This is not just a slogan; it is a powerful call to action, a declaration of our commitment to eradicate tuberculosis from our communities and pave the way toward a healthier future," said the Health Commissioner.
Earlier in his presentation, the Programme Manager for TB and Leprosy Control, Dr. Garba Audu, revealed that the state has great opportunities, including tremendous government support for TB and ART clinical services, enthusiastic and coordinated facility teams, availability of technical staff, mining department services, as well as LTR community TB and PPM for TB and HIV projects, respectively.
A tuberculosis survivor at the program, Usman Shuaibu, commended the Yobe State Government for the support he received during his TB treatment.
