CS-SUNN advocates on improve nutrition policies practice in Yobe

In an efforts to towards improving access to food and nutrition security in the state,the Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN),Yobe state coordination Unit has embarked on a three(3) days advocacy visits to the various ministries, departments and agencies in Yobe state.
The advocacy visits which emberked on Wednesday visited;state ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster management as well as the primary health care management board (PHCMB) respectively.
The advocacy team which was led by the state coordinator CS-SUNN Yobe Chapter,Tanimu Salihu was intensively discussed for nutrition policies,and ensuring access to adequate nutrition for the people of the state.
During the visit,the CS-SUNN team pleaded with the government to increase the maternity leave from 3 months to 6 months and to track the nutrition budget on how much is being budgeted for nutrition and has it been spent through the ministries, departments and agencies in the state.
Mr Salihu while at the ministry of budget and economic planning on thursday for the advocacy, seeks for more nutrition -focused commitments from the ministry saying aims is to scale up nutrition in Yobe.
In continuetion of the advocacy visit on friday at the state emergency management agency (SEMA) office,the CS-SUNN state coordinator called for government to allocates and release adequate funds promptly for the implementation of nutrition interventions designed to reduce Malnutrition in the state.
"Because of the challenges, CS-SUNN was implementing the increased investment to scale- up quality nutrition services projects in the state in collaboration with UNICEF.
"The Civil Society Scaling-Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) is a non-governmental, non-profit making coalition, made up of organizations with a shared vision to transform Nigeria into a country where every citizen has food and is nutrition secured",he added.
