Lafiya-Uk trains CSOs on SWAp to avoid duplicative efforts in health Sector

In an effort to strengthen members on the concept of the new Sector- Wide Approach(SWAp) Policy in the state,the Lafiya UK support to health in Nigeria,in partnership with Yobe Voice and Accountability Mechanisms(YoVAM) has trained YoVAM members,monitoring and evaluation officers from the state Ministries,Departments and Agencies under ministry of health in the state.
The two days training which took place in Damaturu featured pepper presentations,discussion,review of 2025 work plan and review of advocacy and Communication strategy respectively.
In his welcome address,the YoVAM Co-Chair of Government,Bala Sulaiman said, Sector -Wide Approach (SWAp) is a development practice that brings together governments, donors,and other stakeholders to work together and avoid duplicative efforts in health Sector.
Mr Bala stated that,the training enlightened YoVAM members on what the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp)is all about,what the government want to achieve,and how they are going to key in to help in the successful implementation of the SWAp in the state.
"The training is also going to have lectures on data management.We are going to align with our organisation to see how we can come in to help in tracking using the data to achieve health goals in Yobe state."said Mr Bala.
In his remarks,the Secretary,Yobe Voice and accountability mechanisms,Hassan kubes revealed that,YoVAM is a state led accountability mechanisms supporting the health sector in achieving and improving in reproductive,maternal,child and adolescent health and nutrition outcome and other very essential healthcare services especially at the primary health care level.
He further noted that,"The training is to agree on the next step on YoVAM's roles in the sector-wide approach (SWAp),to insert SWAp activities in the 2025 work plan and to update understanding of data management and visualization for effective evidence based -advocacy".
The training drew fifteen (15) participants from the voice of accountability mechanisms which is a congregation of the government, media and civil society organizations,and Monitoring and Evaluation officers from ten(10) Yobe MDAs under the ministry of health.
