NOA takes Lassa fever,Cholera awareness to grassroots in Yobe

The National Orientation Agency NOA Yobe State Office has on Wednesday commenced the sensitisation of stakeholders to prevent the outbreak of lassa fever,cholera and cerebral spinal meningitis virus in the state.
The enlightenment campaign took place at the palace of the district head of Bulabulin in Nayi-Nawa Community of Damaturu Local Government area of Yobe state.
The prevention Campaign was attended by officials of NOA, UNICEF,WHO,Health Experts, Traditional leaders,Community members,NURTW,Corp members as well as journalists respectively.
Speaking during the awareness campaign,the state Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA,)Yobe state Office, Ali Audu said,the campaign became necessary considering the state approaching heat season from February- March to April.
He noted that the awareness is going to cover the 17 local Government Areas of the state,hence the need for good hygienic practice from the community members.
He revealed that, anyone notices such sign and symptoms that explained by the health experts should go to the nearest heath care facility for appropriate action.
During the awareness campaign,Dr Adamu Mu'azu of the state specialist damaturu, representative of UNICEF, among others health experts dwelt intensively on sign and symptoms of Lassa Fever which according to them include; headache,sore throat,back pain, chest pain,cough,general body pain, vomiting, fever, diarrhoea, stomach pain, among others.While for the Cholera includes; diarrhea,vomiting,and weakness among others".
The health professionals reminded the community members for proper hygieni is the first prevention measure for any disease.
In his remarks,the district head of Bulabulin,Aja Kalli Abba Murfana appreciated the efforts and commitments of the national orientation Agency NOA for such an important sensitization campaign to the local Communities in the state.
