NEYIF partners Yobe to establish justice referral center

The North East Youth Initiative for 
Development (NEYIF) has made necessary arrangements to establish justice referral centres across three local government areas of Yobe state.

The executive director,NEYIF,Dauda Muhammad Gombe,made this known Wednesday at the 3-day inception training for its project staff on strengthening the resilience and reintegration of children formally associated with Non-State Armed Groups(NSAGS)and Other Vulnerable Children (OVC)in the state.

Dauda stated that they are going 
to establish the justice referral centres in Damaturu, Bade and Geidam local government areas in partnership with Yobe state Ministry of Justice, where every case that got within the communities that 
requires support in terms of justice system will be referred to the desk officer of the referral centres.

He stated that the desk officer will ensure the needed support from the Ministry of Justice is provided to that child or his caregiver affected by that particular issues.

The NEYIF director revealed that they would be supporting the referral centers with every type of resources and other trainings and things that are needed for that center to be effective and efficient.

Dauda added that the 3-day inception training for project staff is in collaboration with Yobe state Ministry of Youth,Sport,social and Community Development was funded by UNICEF and supported by other donors to implement a one year project in five local governments of Damaturu,Bade, Tarmuwa,Geidam and Potiskum for more resilience of communities, especially children who are formerly associated with non-state armed groups.

"we are going to implement it as child protection budget that covers all aspects of child protection provided all the needed support to the children affected and vulnerable children in these Communities.

"We are targeting about thirty thousand children where sixty five(65) participants are taking parts on the training that are going to implement the project from the five LGAs.

"The North East region has faced significant challenges in recent times and Yobe to be precise,have been disproportionately affected by these hardships.This project comes at a critical moment, providing a much-needed platform to strengthen child protection mechanisms within our communities.

"Over the next three days, you will dwell into critical aspects of child protection.This training will equip you with the knowledge and tools to identify and report child abuse, exploitation, and neglect",he added.

Dauda urged the training participants to become champions for child protection within their communities and to share their newfound knowledge and skills with others, and work collaboratively to create a safe and nurturing environment for all children.
