Announcing the result, the returning officer for the governorship election, Professor Umar Pate who is the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Kashere,Gombe state, said Buni of APC emerged winner having scored the highest votes. Buni scored a total of 317,113 votes to defeated his opponents Alhaji Sheriff Abdullahi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that polled  104,259 votes and Garba Umar of New Nigerian People's party (NNPP) polled 14,246 votes as well. He was convicted after being pronounced guilty of a one count of criminal misappropriation to the tune of Nineteen Million, Nine Hundred Thousand Naira (N19, 900,000.00) preferred against them by the Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Yahaya received funds from the Office of the Auditor General for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Yobe State, for the purchase of an official vehicle, a 2015 Toyota Corolla, and diverted part of the money to his personal use. By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu  Governor Mai Mala Buni,  has approved the secondment and deployment of 2670 staff to the Ministry of Environment to serve as Coordinators and Supervisors. The staff drawn from the 17 local governments councils are to serve in the newly established Climate Change Adaptation Project. According to the commissioner for Environment, Alh. Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa  said 15 coordinators and supervisors are to serve in each of  the 178 wards of  the state. The Climate Change Adaptation Project would be executing various activities to check the challenges of climate change. He explained that the massive deployment of staff to the project was to effectively check the menace of the climate change in the state. "We are determined to confront the menace to boost agriculture, ensure food safety and security" he said. Karasuwa said social organizations would be encouraged to get involved and take ownership of the project.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote Baba Goni Bade expressed satisfaction on the conduct of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. He commended the electorates for peacefully conducting themselves in an orderly manner and charged them to maintain the tradition. The chairman further urged politicians and political parties, opinion leaders, traditional rulers and parents to caution their wards and youth to shun violence and thuggery during and after the elections.

Yobe Approves N500m Agric. Loan To 4,000 Teachers

By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu   Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has Thursday approved N500 million Agricultural loan to 4,000 teachers across the State. The loan which is to be distributed in two phases is to equip the teachers to prepare and participate in the 2023 cropping season effectively. Each of the 4,000 teachers is to receive the sum of  N120,000 to engage in agricultural production. Governor Buni advised the beneficiaries to use the support judiciously for the intended purpose. The facility which is to be granted by the Yobe Microfinance Bank, is to be redeemed within 24 months through the Yobe State Ministry of Finance and, the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
