Yobe HoS: 3,000 Civil Servants Sit for 2026 Promotion Examination

The Yobe State Head of Service (HoS), Abdullahi Musa Shehu has disclosed that 3,000 civil servants participated in the 2026 promotion examination across the state.

The HoS made the announcement in Damaturu while overseeing the conduct of the examination at Government Girls College, Damaturu.

He was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Public Service, Hamidu Musa Babi.According to Shehu, the examination was organised for all eligible civil servants due for promotion.

He stated that officers on grade levels 7 to 9, 10 to 13, and 15 to 16 were invited to sit for the test, which took place simultaneously at three designated centres;Damaturu (Zone A), Potiskum (Zone B), and Gashua (Zone C).

The Head of Service explained that the examination aims to enhance productivity and efficiency within the public service, as well as to familiarise civil servants with government policies and programmes.

He further praised the quality of the questions, noting that the college of Business administration, management and technology responsible for setting the examination performed excellently."I have no complaints whatsoever," Shehu said.

He commended the institution and thanked the civil servants for their peaceful participation.

The HoS also expressed appreciation to Governor Mai Mala Buni for creating an enabling environment that allowed this year's examination to hold successfully across Damaturu, Potiskum, and Gashua towns.

Speaking at the event, Babagana Maigari, Registrar of the College of Business Administration, Management and Technology, noted that his institution successfully conducts this examination every year. 

He added that successful candidates would receive their certificates within two to three months, which will enable them to obtain promotion from grade level 7 up to level 16.
