Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a powerful coalition of youth leaders, local government officials, and political aspirants in Nangere Local Government has formally endorsed former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, as their consensus candidate to succeed Governor Mai Mala Buni.
The endorsement came during a Critical Stakeholders Engagement held Sunday in Sabon Garin Nangere, organized by the APC Youth Wing.
The event drew a wide cross-section of party faithful, traditional elders, and community leaders.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairman of the Nangere Local Government APC Youth Wing, Umar Mohammed Kukuri, declared that the region’s youth stakeholders are throwing their full weight behind Baba Wali, describing him as "a round peg in a round hole."
Kukuri cited the former SSG’s administrative expertise and proven capacity to consolidate Governor Buni’s development strides across sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.
Kukuri also seized the moment to praise Governor Buni’s inclusive governance style, specifically hailing the recent appointment of Dr. Mohammed Goje (Dan Iyan Kukuri) as Acting SSG.
He called the appointment "a testament to the Governor’s confidence in the youth," adding that it signals the readiness of young people for critical leadership roles.
"This is a defining moment for us," Kukuri told the crowd. "We must embrace unity, remain resilient, and reciprocate the trust placed in us by being responsible citizens and active participants in governance."
Kukuri further extended deep appreciation to traditional rulers for their guidance in mobilizing youth toward positive engagement and called for sustained prayers for peace and a successful 2027 electoral process in Yobe State and Nigeria.
Reinforcing the chorus of support, Ibrahim Usman (Sarkin Yamma Tikau), an aspirant for the Nangere Constituency seat, pledged 100 percent loyalty to the direction of the state government.
He assured stakeholders that the constituency would stand firmly behind the endorsement of Baba Malam Wali.
Similarly, the Chairman of Nangere Local Government, Ismail Musa, added his voice to the growing endorsement, affirming the council’s full support for the former SSG as the preferred successor to Governor Buni.

Mallam Abdullahi Mallam Saleh has also publicly supported the decision made by Governor Mai Mala Buni to select Baba Mallam Wali as his preferred candidate for the Yobe State governorship election in 2027.
The engagement concluded with a rallying call for stakeholders to move beyond dialogue into renewed commitment and collaboration for the development of Nangere, Yobe State, and the nation.
