Yobe Varsity BioRTC holds 2024 Summer School workshop on AI


Biomedical Science Research and Training Center of Yobe state University in partnership with the office of the honourary Adviser on science,Research and Innovation has organized a 2024 Summer school workshop in Damaturu.

The workshop covered topics on artificial intelligence, teaching tools,bioimaging in malaria research, bioimaging in neuroscience research as well as innovation display and award respectively.

Speaking on the workshop, director BioRTC and Adviser to Governor Mai Mala Buni for Science, Research and Innovation,Dr Mahmud Bukar Maina said,the idea behind the workshop is to build local capacity of the state so that people can be able to innovate and do things locally.

Maina stated that,this year the have brought an expart that is world recognize to provide people from health, administrative, education and all source of background to understand how to use artificial intelligence to advance their work.

"70 percent of the participants are  from different local government area of Yobe state,while the remaining 30 percent are across the Nigeria.

"We want to build a local capacity we mean business,we want to build a future where people from Yobe can do things that no any other states can do,we want nigeria to succeed but we want to start from home",said the Dr Maina.

He called on the participants to apply what they have learned when they go back to their various institutions and come up with a new questions that during virtual session in their created group they can asked questions and get more knowledge.

Dr Zainab Rabiu from Maitama Sule University is one of the participants at the training said ,the workshop has proving to be very productive.

Dr Zainab further revealed that,she leaned a lot on artificial intelligence, language machine."The workshop bring researchers , academician and connec them with the subsequent innovation that is happening in the world.
