Yobe SUBEB,YSU train 30 Basic School Teachers on proficiency
The Centre for Continuing Education, Yobe State University in collaboration with Yobe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) with support with The Leggatt Trust Educational Charity, a non governmental organization based in the UK, has organized a 3-Day Teacher Proficiency Strengthening Workshop on Learner-Friendly Pedagogy in Reading, Writing and and Numeracy (Only-the-NUMBERS-Count).
Speaking while declaring the workshop opened,the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Mala Mohammed Daura, said the university is passionate about the training so as to complement the efforts of Yobe State Government on the Declaration of 'State of Emergency' on Education by Hon. Mai Mala Buni led administration.
Prof. Daura while commending the efforts of the Director, Centre for Continuing Education, Prof. Clifford Irikefe Gbeyonron, said this is also as part of the efforts by Yobe State Government to revive Basic and Secondary education in the state following the years of Boko Haram devastation.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director Centre for Continuing Education, Prof. Clifford Irikefe Gbeyonron, revealed that the Centre was established in 2022 for community service in order to address challenges in education in Yobe State and Nigeria in general.
Prof.Gbeyonron commended the efforts of The Leggatt Trust Educational Charity as one of the sponsors of the training.
He added that the Centre will continue to address many educational challenges in state and beyond.
On his part,the registrar of the University, Dr. Kalli Alkali Yusuf Gazali, commended the efforts of the resource persons, donors and sister agencies for the solidarity during the ceremony.
