Jubilation in Nguru as ARD, provides free Medication,Surgery to 2,500 Vulnerable
Aishatu Muhammadu, a 72 year old resident of Hausari in Nguru revealed since she was born, this is the first time she enjoyed free medication after Association of Resident Doctors(ARD), Federal Medical Centre Nguru in Yobe state provided free medical outreach to about 2,500 vulnerable persons in the local government area.
The exercise is support by the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) is to ensure vulnerable persons do not die because of inaccessibility to healthcare.
The President of the Association, Doctor Aminu Habibu explained the exercise is a social responsibility to support the less privileged persons who may not afford their medications.
“This medical and surgical outreach is sponsored by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) is not a mere public health intervention, it is a symbol of what is possible when stakeholders across traditional, governmental and professional institution come together in service delivery to people”
“At this juncture, permit me to begin by extending our profound appreciation to the NEDC for continued commitment to the healthcare development in the North East. Their sponsorship and strategic support has played an essential role in making this outreach, possible” he said.
The commissioner for health in the state represented by the Principal Medical Director, General Hospital Nguru, Dr. Mustapha Muhammad and the representative of the Medical Association, Dr. Dishion Innocent applauded the Resident Doctors, FMC Nguru for not only staying at their comfort zones but went to a far distance in providing free medical and surgery services to the community.
The immediate past Chairman of the Association, Dr. Husseini Mansur pass vote of confidence on the Current President and his exco for making the Association proud, saying he is never surprised at their performance because they are up to the task.
The Emir of Nguru, represented by the Secretary of the Emirate Council, Makinta Ali, showers encomium on the association and urged them to extend the programme to the grassroots through the state primary healthcares.
The outreach which include different ailments both medical and surgical services targeted 2,500 vulnerable persons in Nguru local government of the state and its environs.
