The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Yobe State University Branch, has officially called off its two-week-old strike following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Yobe State Government.

This was contained in a statement issued by the ASUU Yobe State University Branch Chairman, Comrade Ahmed Ibrahim Karage, and made available to journalists in Damaturu on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the decision to suspend the industrial action came after the union’s National President granted approval, following the transmission of the MoU by the zonal coordinator.

"By this approval, the strike action embarked upon on 11th July 2025 is hereby called off,” the statement declared.

Comrade Karage further urged all academic staff to resume work immediately, emphasizing the need to reciprocate the state government’s commitment by making up for the two weeks lost during the strike period.

The development has been met with relief by students and parents, who had expressed concerns over disruptions to the academic calendar.
