Yobe Gov't Assured Fhi360 of Nutrition Project Sustainability

Yobe state government has assured fhi360,alive and thrive of nutritional project sustainability as the state already have strategic and operational plan on nutrition.

The Commissioner Yobe state ministry of health and human services,Dr Mohammed Lawan Gana made the assurance on Tuesday during the project closeout in Damaturu.

Represented by the  Director Public health in the ministry,Dr Hauwa Goni,Dr Gana pointed out that the organization has played a vital role towards assisting the state in reducing the rate of maternal mortality in the state.

According to the health commissioner,fhi360, alive and thrive also supported the state in the training of health workers,Doctors, Nurses,Midwives and other community health workers.

He revealed that the partnership between the Yobe State Government and fhi360 has also impacted positively in educating community members,families, community engagement,focal persons,religions and traditional leaders on nutrition matters.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, Fhi360/alive and thrive Senior Technical Adviser, M and E Officer Mr. Duke Lawrence Ogbokor commended Yobe State Government for creating an enabling environment for the organization to successfully achieved its mandate in the state.

He said accepting,the 3 Community Based Officers (CBOs) by the Yobe State Government that oversees the organization office, the state government and the Communities in Yobe has helped them improve a lot in what relates to maternal,infant, and young child nutrition(MIYCN)in the state.

He explained that during the three-year project in the state, the organisation which focus on accelerating the scale material,infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) interventions also concentrated on strengthening the health system through the areas of building the capacity of the healthcare workers to help improve the quality of life for Mothers and Children.

In their separate remarks at the event,the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr Babagana Kundi Machina, and the State Coordinator of NAFDAC,Lawan Musa Dadingelma, commended fhi360 for the support and safeguarding the health of mothers and the children in the state.

The event witness handing over of monitoring and evaluation data tools, phones IEC materials, MIYCN equipments among other equipments by the Fhi360, alive and thrive to Yobe state government respectively.
