Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has affirmed that security remains the unshakeable foundation upon which all sustainable development is built, reiterating his administration's unwavering commitment to peace and stability across the state.

Governor Buni made this declaration on Wednesday during a high-level courtesy visit from the Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the North East Geopolitical Zone, DIG Zakariya Fera, alongside DIG Ibrahim Baba Zango in Damaturu.

Represented by the acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mohammed Goje, the Governor emphasized that lasting peace, economic growth, and social progress can only thrive in an environment of safety and stability.

Highlighting the administration's track record, Governor Buni noted that security has consistently occupied the central place in the state's development agenda. Over the years, the government has forged a strong and productive partnership with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.

According to Buni, this partnership has been reinforced through the provision of critical operational support, the improvement of security infrastructure, and the enhancement of institutional coordination mechanisms.

"The government has also remained committed to the welfare of security personnel and their families, recognizing their sacrifices as indispensable to the peace and stability enjoyed by our communities," the Governor stated.

He attributed the current peace in Yobe State to the resilience, professionalism, and collaborative efforts of security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, and the citizenry. He sought continued partnership and support from the police command to further strengthen the state's security architecture.

The Governor called for enhanced intelligence operations, improved operational capabilities, the strategic deployment of additional personnel, and expanded community policing initiatives. "We must sustain this prevailing peace to create an enabling environment for socio-economic development," he added.

Buni also extended his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his firm commitment to national security and his efforts to stabilize the North East region.

Earlier in his remarks, DIG Zakariya Fera explained that the visit was in line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to assess the security situation, strengthen operational strategies, and improve service delivery in the zone.

"We have come to Yobe to make sure that together we will take this battle to the criminals. We must sensitize our stakeholders that for the police to protect them effectively, they have a role to play, because the enemies of society live within the society," DIG Fera stated.

The visit highlighted a renewed synergy between the state government and federal security agencies, signaling a robust approach to maintaining the peace and stability that Yobe State has worked so hard to achieve.
