Gov. Buni Approves New Vice-Chancellor for Yobe State University

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the appointment of Professor Mohammed Bashir Tahir as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Yobe State University, Damaturu.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, Alhaji Ahmed Mustapha Goniri, Esq., and made available to journalists in Damaturu on Friday.
According to the statement, the Governor’s approval followed the recommendation of the University’s Governing Council, which was reached during an extraordinary meeting held earlier that day.
The statement also highlighted the appointee's distinguished background, noting that "Prof. Mohammed Bashir Tahir is a Professor of General Surgery and a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons.
"Until his appointment, he served as the Medical Director of the Ultra-Modern Police Hospital, Damaturu."
Professor Tahir is expected to bring his extensive academic and administrative experience to lead Yobe State University in its next phase of development.
