WHO Officials handing over assorted acute malnourished drugs to Yobe State Government By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu  The World Health Organisation (WHO) had donated assorted emergency malnourished drugs to Yobe state government for distribution across its health facilities. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health Abdullahi Jawa who received the drugs at the State’s University Teaching Hospital Damaturu revealed the items would support the government's drive towards providing free medical healthcare especially for children under the age of five years. “In Yobe we have a population of over four million people and looking at the scarcity of resources, the government cannot cater for most of the needs of its people for we have numerous challenges. By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu  The Yobe state government has disclosed that it recorded 38% per cent of exclusive breastfeeding in the state in 2022. The nutrition officer in the state Primary Health Care Management Board (PHCMB), Hadiza Maina Adam, made the disclosure Friday at a one-day sensitisation and advocacy meeting with the government and private sectors. Blueprint reports that the initiative was aimed at supporting the extension of six months maternity leave for mothers, introduction of paternity leave and baby-friendly workplaces in the state.
