Neptune prime partners YFM to train social media reporters in Potiskum

In a bid to enhance grassroots reporting and advocacy, Neptune Network Nigeria Limited (NNNL), publishers of Neptune Prime English and Hausa editions, in partnership with Yobe First Movement(YFM), will conduct a one-day training on citizen journalism and social media information dissemination in Potiskum, Yobe State on Wednesday.  

The workshop, as announced in a statement by NNNL’s Publisher/CEO, Malam Hassan Gimba aims to equip 20 civil society representatives from Potiskum, Fika, Fune, and Nangere Local Government Areas with skills in real-time reporting, policy analysis, and strategic social media engagement.  

Gimba noted that the initiative seeks to strengthen participants’ ability to document governance issues, bridge policy gaps, and amplify community voices through digital platforms.The Potiskum session will serve as a pilot phase, with plans to expand across Yobe State subsequently.  

The training will feature seasoned media and academic professionals, including:Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Bedu, Communications expert,former Yobe NUJ Chairman, and lecturer at the University of Maiduguri.Dr. Saleh Mari Maina Veteran journalist and lecturer at the University of Abuja, ), and Baba Ahmed of Bayero University (BUK), Kano.  
Others are Malam Abubakar Ahmed Retired Deputy Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Dr. Furera Bagel Linguistics lecturer at Bauchi State University.
