Gov. Buni swears in 2 Perm.Secs,Member Pilgrims Commission

By Yusuf A Yusuf, Damaturu  Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has on Thursday swore in two new Permanent Secretaries,Alhaji Musa Audu Fara and Mohammed Balumi, along with the permanent member Pilgrims Welfare Commission, Alhaji Baba Gana Bukar Gujba.  The swearing-in ceremony took place at the WAWA hall government house Damaturu. In his address, Governor Buni urged the new appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by adding value to governance and improve service delivery. Buni reassured the state civil servants that government would continue to appreciate and rewards public officers who put in their best to improve service delivery.  The Governor said the promotion of the new officers to the position of Permanent Secretaries is aimed at promoting effective and efficient service delivery in the public service and to encourage hard work, as well as to fill in the existing vacancies.  The Governor noted that, “On the available record, the new ...

Comrade Rajab Mohammed Ismail was re-elected unopposed as Council Chairman at the just concluded election held at the Yobe Council Secretariat. With him to steer the mantle of leadership were Usman Mohammed Nasoro,vice Chairman,Alhassan Sule Mamudo,Council Secretary,Babayo Wakili,Assistant Secretary, Murjanatu Hamisu Yalwa , Auditor,Baba Shehu Mohammed, treasurer was also returned unopposed. N'East Govs Forum Seeks Alternative Power supply in Coal/Solar

The Northeast Governors Forum have resolved to work with the Shangai Electric Company to construct a 60 megawatts coal power plant or 50 megawatts solar power plant in each of the six states of Adamawa, Bauchi,  Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe to address the inadequate power supply in the region. This is contained in a communique issued at the end of the forum's meeting on Saturday in Yola.  The communique which was read by the Yobe state Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni, stated that poor infrastructure and bad road network are stalling development and fueling insecurity in the region, and making life more difficult to the people. The forum called on the North East Development Commission to work with the state governments and the federal ministry of Works to improve road networks, and to adopt more practical measures in rebuilding the roads. Chaired by Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, the meeting was declared opened at the Banquet Hall of Government House Adamawa. In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Forum who doubled as the Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum said the North East Sub-Region has enormous challenges which could only be mitigated collectively. Babagana Zulum further noted that it is high time for the leaders of the region to harmonize their respective states' development Programmes and Policies to achieve a common goal that would benefit the Sub-Region. He specifically called on the North East Governors to focus more on small scale irrigation farming to support the unpredictable rainy season in the region. Jakduwa (IBN Jaks) has facilitated a training for 250 Persons across his Constituency in areas of Fishery and Poultry Farming. The training which took place recently at the Saleh Suleiman event center,Gashua,Yobe State was a one day intensive training on fishery and poultry farming which was facilitated by Malam. Haruna Mamman, a renowned fishery expert in the region and Malam Musa Mustapha a livestock expert.  The training was declared opened by Malam Salisu Jawi who represented Hon, Jakduwa at the event and gave his opening remarks. In addition to the House,the family also received a cash donation amounting to Two Million,Five Hundred Thousand Naira(2.5m) from the Governor as well as a pledge of supporting the Basic Education of the Children. NYCSO expresses concern over decline in Yobe Revenue Generation

OISD trains Women Journalists on equity,equality for women in Yobe

The Organization for Innovation and Sustainable Development(OISD) has Organized a 3- day training for female journalists in Yobe State. The training which was sponsored by the Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy tagged "SHE EXISTS" promoting equity and equal opportunities for women in media was aimed to train Female Journalist in North-east Nigeria which are Adamawa,Gombe, Taraba, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno. The training drew 35 participants across the States and was held at Royalton Halls and event centre Damaturu,Yobe State. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Brig. Gen. Abdulsalam Dahiru (rtd), stated this in Damaturu while briefing the press after the state security council meeting.
