GESoL launches tree planting campaign in Yobe

In an efforts to addressing issues of climate change and reducing its impact on the environment in the state, Green Environmental Solutions Initiative (GESoL) a non governmental organisation in partnership with Yobe state government Thursday launched a  tree planting campaign and donated 1600 varieties of economic tree seedlings to 110 schools across 4 local government area of Yobe state.

The flagging-off tree planting campaign took place at Waziri Ibrahim Primary School in damaturu,the state Capital.

Speaking at the flagging-off ceremony,the GESOL coordinator Cashew seed distribution for germination ,Dr.Musa Dodo said,the tree planting campaign by the Organisation is to encourage,supervise and support primary and junior secondary school's children plant trees in their schools and communities.

Dr Dodo stated that,the objective of the project is to act as a platform for children to learn basic agriculture, increase the number of trees in the community and help curb climate change.

"GESOL  believed that, the children will gain educationally,the environment will be enriched with more trees planted which will help mitigate the negative effects of climate change,and potential there could be economic benefits to some of the children and families especially those living in rural areas",said the GESOL Coordinator,Dr Musa Dodo.

On his remarks,Yobe state Coordinator Green Environmental Solutions Initiative GESOL,Adamu Isa Suleh said,the Organisation in partnership with Yobe state universal Basic Education to piloting the project in the state in 110 schools in damaturu, potiskum, jakusko and Nguru LGAs of the state.

He noted that,the project involves the provision of various tree seedlings to schools for the children to plant in  the school grounds and nurture.



Earlier in his remarks,the chairman Yobe state universal Basic Education, professor Musa Alabe appreciated GESOl for piloting the project in Yobe state.

Represented ba the director quality assurance of the board, kachallah Dalah Buni,Alabe charged the schools authority Concern to monitor the planted trees  to grow and benefits the schools and the  society in general.
